Become a Streetlife Volunteer

Many thanks for expressing an interest in volunteering at Streetlife. We are always eager to welcome new people to our team of dedicated volunteers. There are a number of volunteer opportunities available at Streetlife which include:

Daytime work : drop in sessions, reception, life skills and activities

Weekend work : Cook & Eat sessions

Evening work : Nightshelter 3rd person 6.15pm – 9pm, or overnight 6.16pm – 9am

We have an induction meeting most Wednesday evenings from 7pm at The Base, 48 Buchanan Street, Blackpool. You will be required to attend one of these meeting to become a volunteer with Streetlife. Please see our events page for a list of these meetings.

*Please note that to be eligible to volunteer, you need to be drug and alcohol free for a minimum of two years. Further, if you have previously accessed Streetlife’s services, you are required to have been living independently from support services and Streetlife for a minimum of 1 year.

What Streetlife expects from you as a volunteer: 

  • To complete all induction training
  • To complete Health and Safety training
  • To attend team meetings
  • To attend four training sessions a year
  • To have regular supervision
  • To be non-judgemental
  • To participate in pre-briefs and de-briefs
  • To read all Streetlife policies and up-hold them
  • To inform Streetlife as soon as possible if you are not available for an arranged session
  • To do a minimum of one shift a fortnight
